Raitt disappointed by Liberal voting record
October 01, 2009
Halton Residents Counting on Government to Take Action OTTAWA, ONTARIO. Today, Lisa Raitt expressed her disappointment in the Liberal Party for voting against the Conservative government’s new measures to help unemployed workers in Halton and across Canada. “Vulnerable Canadians here in Halton who have been hardest hit by the global recession need these measures,” said Lisa Raitt, Member of Parliament for Halton. “They shouldn’t be used as leverage by Michael Ignatieff and the Liberal Party.” Across the country, our Conservative government is delivering results for all Canadians. We are providing tax relief for families and businesses, creating jobs, and helping vulnerable workers. Thanks to our determined focus, 90% of the stimulus funding for this fiscal year has now been committed. Michael Ignatieff has no credibility when it comes to helping Canadians and their families,” continued Raitt. “He even voted against our government’s popular Home Renovation Tax Credit, something that many families in Halton are counting on.” Projects to fix roads, bridges and other infrastructure are up and running, and families and communities are seeing the results. The proof is in the numbers. In August, 27,000 new jobs were created in Canada. But while we are making progress, there is still more to be done. It is important that we stay on course, and continue to implement Canada’s Economic Action Plan. “I am going to continue to stay focused on delivering results for Halton,” said Raitt. “It’s what the voters of Halton sent me to Ottawa to do.” |
