Incentive will benefit families in Halton
September 22, 2009
Raitt Commends Parliament for Passing Home Renovation Tax Credit MILTON, ONTARIO. Today, Lisa Raitt pointed to the progress of parliament after passing the Home Renovation Tax Credit in the House of Commons last week. “As I spoke with constituents over the summer, I realized just how many people in Halton are taking advantage of the government’s Home Renovation Tax Credit program,” said Lisa Raitt, Member of Parliament for Halton. “Passing this legislation ensures that Canadian families who have made qualifying upgrades to their homes already, or make them before February 1st, 2010 will get the credit on this year’s tax return.” Many people in Halton have made upgrades to their homes that qualify for the Renovation Tax Credit. However Michael Ignatieff and the Liberal Party want an election and they are prepared to sacrifice a tax credit many families are counting on to get it. The Liberals don’t care about the Canadians who have invested in their homes to help our economy – they voted against the tax credit these families are counting on. “Our Conservative government is continuing to take action to fight the effects of the global recession in Canada,” continued Raitt. “We are delivering Canada’s Economic Action Plan, which is helping to protect families, create jobs and build our economic strength right here in Halton.” The Liberals continue to play games. Michael Ignatieff is pushing for an election that Canadians don’t want or need. We are just beginning to see signs of Canada’s economic recovery. New jobs are being created and new homes are being built. An election right now would needlessly risk Canada’s economic recovery when it is still fragile. While our Conservative government is working to fight the recession, Michael Ignatieff and the Liberals are fighting Canada’s recovery. |
