Oakville will benefit from a joint federal and provincial investment of $1 million

Oakville, ON — Oakville will benefit from a joint federal and provincial investment of $1 million build an artificial turf sports field at North Park, thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada program in Ontario (RInC Ontario) and Recreation Ontario (Ontario REC). The Town of Oakville will fund the remaining $500,000 for the sports field from its capital budget. The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources and MPP Kevin Flynn were pleased to announce that this project would bring new sports facilities to the community, create jobs immediately and help stimulate the economy. “The artificial turf sports field will bring new life to sports and recreation in Oakville,” said Minister Raitt. “This Government is pleased to invest in this project which will benefit our community and improve the quality of life of Canadians.” “This investment in our recreational facilities is a part of a broader commitment to stimulate Ontario’s economy through unprecedented and targeted infrastructure spending,” said Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn. “This partnership with the federal and provincial government helps us meet more of the recreation needs of Oakville residents," Mayor Rob Burton said. "We will be able to offer increased field space and extend the season for field sports and outdoor recreation." This project is one of 758 projects announced by Minister of State (Science and Technology) Gary Goodyear, on behalf of the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, and Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Leona Dombrowsky, on behalf of George Smitherman, Ontario Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, worth a total joint federal and provincial investment of more than $380 Million. |
