Lisa pleased with Governal General's decision
December 04, 2008
Ottawa, Ontario - Lisa Raitt Member of Parliament for Halton is pleased with the Governor General`s decision to prorogue Parliament today. The prorogation of Parliament will end the political uncertainty of this week and put the focus back on helping hard working Canadians.

The last six months have been difficult on all of the economies of the G-20. While Canada fairs better than most, our economy has not been immune to the global economic climate. We have seen a slowing in our economy, a weakening of our dollar, and concern on the faces of friends and family. None of these problems are solved by political opportunism.

"Prorogation of Parliament allows all MPs to return to their ridings to receive instructions from their constituents for the events of the future. I look forward to working not only with members from my own caucus but members from the Opposition to do what is right for Canada."

"I will spend the next six weeks meeting with the constituents of Halton as well as small and big business leaders in the riding and I will bring their concerns back to Ottawa so that they may be included in the January 27th budget."

"Canadians have made it clear that they want their politicians to work together and under this government, I will be focused on working to help the families of Halton, protect jobs and strengthen our local economy."
