Raitt Acknowledges Success of Action Plan, but Remains Focused on the Future of Halton

OTTAWA, ONTARIO. Member of Parliament Lisa Raitt welcomed the Fourth Report to Canadians on the implementation of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

“The Economic Action Plan has had a great impact at home in Halton, as well as across the country,” said Lisa Raitt, Member of Parliament for Halton. “Canada is withstanding the global economic challenges better than nearly every other industrialized country.”

To date, 97% of stimulus funding from Canada’s Economic Action Plan has been allocated to over 12,000 infrastructure and housing projects, of which 8,000 have already begun construction.

“Canadians should be proud of the system that their Conservative Government has put into place,” continued Raitt. “Our efforts to help the unemployed, build infrastructure to create jobs, and support communities have gone a long way to improve the lives of Canadians.”

Halton particularly has profited from the infrastructure initiatives that are essential to create and protect local jobs. Projects such as the widening of Tremaine Road, the renewal of the Skyway Wastewater Treatment Plant, and improvements to the GO Transit system will serve residents of Halton for years to come.

“The Canadian economy is indeed recovering,” added Raitt. “However, my focus remains on serving residents of Halton and seeing that their needs are addressed.”
